Beagle fits[TESTING]
Beagle 2 was fit checked to Mars Express in Toulouse. The lander was later removed for separate transport to Baikonur.

Shake, rattle and roll[TESTING]
A final vibration test of the complete lander was conducted at AWE en route to France.

Following exhaustive tests and many long hours, the lid was finally closed on the lander. The next time it opens Beagle 2 will be on the surface of Mars.

Main parachute drop test a success[TESTING]
The main parachute, designed by Astrium, was tested last Friday by dropping from a hot air balloon provided by Lindstrand Balloons. Per Lindstrand's Shropshire company is making the flight parachute and the test confirmed that all was well with this vital component in the entry, descent and landing system (pic by Kirsten Hintner).

Mars in a can [TESTING]
The mass spectrometer qualification model being tested under martian conditions in the Open University's simulation chamber which is known locally as Baldrick. Jenny Stewart makes adjustments to the instrument before closing Baldrick's lid.

It may not be the surface of Mars[TESTING]
Colin Pillinger and Lutz Richter (from DLR, the German Space Agency) testing how the mole can burrow under boulders in a quarry in Bedfordshire. The model of Beagle 2 came too for the benefit of several camera crews. More on this story soon.
