Unfortunate ending[MEDIA]
The unfortunate ending to the Mars Polar Lander deployment raised much press interest in the UK in particular what effect would be felt on the Beagle 2 project. The picture shows Colin being interviewed at Gresham College by the Middle Eastern Broadcasting Centre.

Unreserved approval[PROJECT]
The European Space Agency has today given Britain's Beagle 2 Mars Lander its unreserved approval. The Beagle 2 project goes forward into the building phase.

Beagle 2 on Tomorrow's World[TV]
Filming for Tomorrows World in the Science Museum for broadcast on 10 November to announce the Blur track "Beagle 2" composed as the call sign for the mission. The track is available on the Blur single "No Distance Left To Run". Alex James and Dave Rowntree pictured right adjusting the model for the cameras.

New website[PROJECT]
Due to be launched shortly version 3 of the Beagle 2 website will grow to include much more information on the technology and science behind the project.

Beagle technically sound[PROJECT]
Last week the team had two major technical reviews held at Matra Marconi Space in Stevenage. The Systems Engineering Review by ESA and the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) by the ESA Technical Centre (ESTEC) and the prime contractor for the Mars Express platform, Matra Marconi Toulouse (France) were both successfully completed. The Beagle 2 team now await final approval for the lander from the ESA Science Programme Committee, SPC, due to meet in Paris in November.

Beagle 2 meets HMS Beagle[MODEL]
Colin and the Captain pose in front of the model displayed in the chart room on board HMS Beagle whilst alongside recently in Devonport. The Royal Navy ship undertakes survey and research work in different parts of the world. We look forward to planning other meetings in the very near future.
