| The real thing | [PROJECT] |
| Beagle 2 team members, guests and the media took the opportunity to see the lander in the final stages of assembly which is taking place inside the specially designed facility at the Open University. Watch the
web cast Professor Pillinger explaining to the visitors what they would be able to see when they filed past the viewing area. |
| In a few days the lid will be closed on the instrument payload and the probe components fitted. |

| ESA confirm delivery date for Beagle 2 | [PROJECT] |
| The Mars Express prime contractor and the Mars Express ESA Project Manager have agreed the final delivery date for the Beagle 2 Mars lander with the Beagle team. See ESA news item link on the right. |

| If you are in London | [EXHIBITIONS] |
| The exhibition "The Beagle Voyages - from Earth to Mars" is now open at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London. Entrance is free and the exhibition is on until early September next year. Well worth

| Damien Hirst shows MARS to the world | [INSTRUMENTS] |
| At the White Cube gallery in Hoxton Square, London, the first artwork destined to land on another planet was shown to the media. The spot painting, designed and painted by Damien Hirst, for the Beagle 2 lander, is
named "MARS" by the artist. The artwork provides a vital calibration target for the cameras, microscope and XRS and Moessbauer spectrometers. |

| The University of Leicester has successfully competed construction and test of the flight Model PAW, the "eyes and hand" of the Beagle 2 Mars lander. |

| Main parachute drop test a success | [TESTING] |
| The main parachute, designed by Astrium, was tested last Friday by dropping from a hot air balloon provided by Lindstrand Balloons. Per Lindstrand's Shropshire company is making the flight parachute
and the test confirmed that all was well with this vital component in the entry, descent and landing system (pic by Kirsten Hintner). |
