Wellcome News[PROJECT]
The Wellcome Trust have made a substantial grant available to the Open University team developing the mass spectrometer, not only to help build the instrument which will analyses martian samples but to further develop the robust, miniaturised mass spectrometer for potential biomedical and clinical uses on Earth.

Major exhibition announced[EXHIBITIONS]

A sense of humour[IN PRINT]
Thanks for the comment by a reader whose letter was published in the Telegraph following the Beagle 2 coverage.
SIR - Having spent the past 30 years in electrical engineering, it came as a pleasant surprise to learn that the Beagle 2 equipment will be severely shock-tested before launch (Science, Apr. 3). However, I have found that the true test of the engineer's skill is knowing exactly where to hit a failed piece of equipment to restore it.
